Recently, I had a pleasure of testing some products and choosing my favourite picks from Consonant Skincare, a Canadian beauty and wellness company with a focus on keeping ingredient labels simple and understandable. I love how their dedication to 100% natural, clinically proven skincare products helped me to achieve a regimen that is edited and effortless!

20% Clay Exfoliating Cleansing Bar
Healthy skin and good-looking skin don’t have to be mutually exclusive. To keep it looking and feeling its best, I use Consonant Skincare 20% Clay Exfoliating Cleansing Bar to remove impurities and dead cells that inhibit my skin’s ability to perform in peak condition. Formulated with marine clay extracted from the Manicouagan Peninsula in Quebec, Canada, this high-performance, yet very gentle, exfoliating cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and reinvigorated. While the combination of olive oil, palm oil and coconut oil helps to hydrate and soothe.
MY TRICK: I always wash my face using a soft washcloth, not my hands. I believe that adding some physical exfoliation is especially important for acne prone and oily skin types as it improves blood circulation, gently exfoliates my skin and leaves it looking cleaner, clearer and brighter. Needless to say, I was very happy to learn that this bar comes with an exfoliating sponge that it is not too harsh on my skin and I can use instead of my washcloth (so much more convenient!).
DHE Mask
I love a good face mask and the DHE Mask from Consonant Skincare is a uniquely multitasking, 100% natural mask that has been formulated to detoxify, hydrate and exfoliate. Its mineral-rich Manicouagan Clay, extracted from the site of a 215 million-year-old asteroid crash in Quebec, detoxifies and clarifies skin with the help of willow bark and tea tree extracts. Formulated with Potent HydrExtreme, grape seed and olive oils, the mask also nourishes and delivers optimal hydration making skin plump, firm and beautifully radiant. At the same time, a unique blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acid fruit enzymes gently exfoliate, revealing the softer and smoother skin underneath.
Maximum Glycolic Meta Serum
This is the 100% natural serum I have been looking for to take my skin from drab to fab! Conventional glycolic acid products can be drying and irritating, but Maximum Glycolic Meta Serum from Consonant Skincare is formulated to be at the juncture of hydration and functional exfoliation. It is one of my favourite serums on the market right now as it targets fine lines, dullness, and enlarged pores while its maximum allowable concentration of AHA’s dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells to the skin to allow healthy, radiant skin to show through.
Another amazing thing that distinguishes this serum from others is its smart packaging. In order to get the product out of the bottle, all you need to do is to twist its top and then the logo with a tiny pump slides out to make the whole process much easier and less messy compared to the traditional serum packaging!
The Perfect Sunscreen
One of the cornerstones of a healthy skin care regimen is an effective sunscreen. But let’s be honest, when it comes to natural sunscreens, there isn’t a lot of choice. I don’t have to tell you that most products are greasy, hard to spread and leave an unattractive white residue. However, The Perfect Sunscreen from Consonant Skincare is unscented, leaves no white residue, evens skin tone with a touch of natural mica tint and even gives my skin a little bit of hydration boost with its aloe vera, grape seed and rice bran oil. Most importantly, this product delivers optimal SPF 30 protection using uniquely micronized (non-nano particle) Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide minerals to block the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays.
Since this product has a touch of natural mica tint, I love it for these ‘no-makeup makeup’ looks as it not only protects the skin, but also gives it a ‘barely there’ minimal coverage.
Sisal Dry Brush
I have read so many great things about dry brushing and been wanting to try it for a while, but since I was new to the topic, I was a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of options. Thanks to wonderful ladies at Consonant Skincare and their help, I was finally able to find a perfect dry brush for me. This handmade, natural Sisal Dry Brush is designed to revitalize skin while massaging dry or in the bath or shower. The semi-firm fibers of this brush help to clear away dull layers of skin, stimulate circulation, help eliminate toxins, and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
At the beginning I was scared a little bit that dry brushing may not be the most enjoyable step in my body care routine, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that its texture is not to harsh and its medium firmness feels just right on my body!
