OOTD | Inspired By Portuguese Art

During my trip to Portugal, I was extremely amazed and inspired by its local art and design, especially by azulejos, which are a form of Portuguese painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. They are considered to be a major aspect of Portuguese architecture as they are applied on walls, floors, and ceilings. Moreover, many of them chronicle main historical and cultural events in Portuguese history.

Usually, azulejos are in blue and white tones, so I have decided to pair my white tee with light blue denim shorts to mirror their aesthetics. To put a spin on my look, I wore a pink satin duster that created a pleasing tension between its warm colour and cold, monochromatic colours of azulejos. Since I can’t imagine a summer outfit without a straw hat, I have accessorized mine with one I purchased in a local store in Porto. Finally, what really makes this outfit and reflects Portuguese vibes is an antique-looking purse whose pattern imitates azulejos. I got it in a local store in Coimbra and I completely fell in love with it as its shape and closure remind me of my grandma’s old bags.
